A Practical Funding Resource for Pasco County Entrepreneurs
The SMARTstart Microloan Program supports entrepreneurs and small business owners who have solid ideas, good management skills, and a valid business plan, but may not be able to secure traditional financing. For businesses that qualify, microloan funding can help support startup needs, stabilization, or growth.
Because every funding decision depends on eligibility, documentation, repayment ability, and current program terms, entrepreneurs can learn more about the program below and connect with one of our team members to confirm whether the program may fit your business needs.
The SMARTstart Microloan Program is designed to support Pasco County entrepreneurs and small businesses by helping them access capital for eligible business needs. The program is part of a broader effort to strengthen the local economy, support business growth, and create more opportunity in Pasco County.
Loans are available up to $50,000 with a fixed interest rate. Loan terms may range from 12 months up to 72 months, and the loan may not be used as a revolving line of credit. Current terms, requirements, and conditions should be confirmed directly through SMARTstart before applying.
To qualify, a business must be for-profit and headquartered in Pasco County. Applicants must show that they have the experience and resources to be successful business operators. Loan decisions are based on the borrower’s ability to repay the loan over its term, with repayment primarily supported by business cash flow.
Microloan proceeds may be used for business purposes such as working capital, inventory, supplies, furniture and fixtures, machinery, and equipment. These uses are intended to help businesses address practical needs tied to startup, operations, stabilization, or growth.
Microloan funds cannot be used to purchase real estate or to refinance existing debt. Connect with one of our team members if you have any questions regarding eligibility.
A funding conversation is stronger when the business owner understands the purpose of the funds, how the money will be used, and how repayment will be supported. Entrepreneurs may need to prepare a business plan, financial information, documentation, and a clear explanation of how the loan would support the business.
The microloan program is one part of SMARTstart’s larger entrepreneur support system. Business owners may also benefit from education, coaching, resource partners, workspace, market research, and other support before, during, or after the funding process.
